About this artwork
Eclipsing Radiance is an exploration of how light can dissolve into shadow, and how even in darkness, color finds a way to emerge. When I began this painting, I was thinking about the moment just before something bright disappears—how the last traces of radiance can feel the most intense.
I worked in transparent layers of cobalt blue, deep violet, crimson, and flashes of warm gold, letting the pigments drift into one another like fading embers.… The composition moves from a vivid, almost celebratory glow at the top left into a quieter, denser darkness at the lower right, suggesting both dissolution and transformation.
For me, this painting is about the beauty of impermanence and the ways illumination can linger, even as it recedes. It’s an invitation to look for brightness in places where it’s almost eclipsed.
