About this artwork
Modern masculinity for me is the ability to find the strength to overcome
selfishness and the ability to think globally, that is, in the interests of all mankind and our planet. I see a modern man as a man who creates, not destroys. Gives more than he takes. Leaves behind a better world than it was before.
For 5 years I have lived in Germany and here I see how masculinity develops in the direction of freedom from stereotypes and freedom itself.… I observe how new masculinity manifested in the greater respect for the other and for the law. New understanding of masculinity let us all move towards overcoming egoism to achieve solidarity and equality, to be more responsible for the future. A modern man is given power to restart the relationship between man and women, parents and children, our planet and us. New strength of modern man is flexibility, ability to see around, to hear, to learn and to understand others.

Alexander Lufer is an experienced painter based in Germany whose work has been featured in solo and group shows internationally. With a background in architecture, Lufer developed his artistic practice inspired by the Dutch Vanitas and artists like Jeff Koons. Working in oil on canvas, he explores themes of technology and the tension between tradition and modernity through altered landscapes and unexpected still lifes.
