About this artwork
This work is an artistic reinterpretation of original sin brought to the present day. In essence, the artist invites us to reflect on our use of technology.
In Genesis 3:5 the serpent tells Eve: “...when you eat it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Eve, seduced, bites into the forbidden fruit.
Here, that fruit is a phone: a desirable, attractive, and shiny object, capable of offering us unlimited access.… But what promises light also brings shadow: it enslaves us, invites us to constant comparison, gives us the illusion of visibility, but also separates us from the real world, from silence, from connection with ourselves, with our people and surroundings. This is reflected in the work through the cracks in the phone, creating a clear division.
We have access to everything, without restrictions.
This work reminds us that the real dilemma is not in the object, but in how we use it... We must decide which fruit to bite.
