About this artwork
Purity is a complex concept that is scarce these days, and everything seems artificial. Here I'm talking about purity in its genuine sense.
The first time I saw a wild lion in Africa, it captivated me. An animal that simultaneously conveyed power, confidence, dominance, elegance, strength, and nobility. But above all, it was pure and genuine, in control of its own life, and that's how it showed itself to the world. Whatever happened, its essence… and character would remain intact.
No other animal has ever conveyed so much to me. And that's what I feel when I paint. It's my world, where I feel purest and do what comes from my soul.
I think I've managed to capture all of this in the work; it's not just any painting of a lion. When you stand face to face with the painting, it looks at you, challenges you, and shows you that it's there, unshakeable.
That's why purity in my mind has the face of a lion.
