In the Middle Ages, the tradition of the bridal bouquet was imported to France… during the Crusades. Weddings were celebrated in spring due to the proliferation of flowers, a season ideal for composing a beautiful country bouquet! The aromatic plants of Antiquity and the early Middle Ages would gradually be replaced, not by a romantic bouquet of roses, but by orange blossoms.
