This collage is a cinematic escape into a world of romance and style. Inspired by the classic curves of a red corvette, I wanted to capture that perfect, fleeting moment of a road trip through a bustling metropolis.
It’s about the quiet magic shared between two people as they leave the noise of the city behind. I built this entire scene from thousands of magazine fragments, taking the glamour of modern media and rebuilding it into a timeless, elegant… story. For me, this work represents freedom and the beauty of a journey where the destination doesn't matter as much as the drive itself.
Alina Pivnenko, born in Kyiv, is a self-taught collage artist who “paints” with meticulously hand-cut fragments from magazines, crafting her visions through thousands of hours in her studio. She creates large-scale images by layering tiny paper pieces, blending elements of nostalgia and iconic imagery through a slow, meditative process rooted in patience. Her work pulsates with quiet honesty, aiming to pierce the superficial and reveal the deep, complex emotions that lie beneath society’s labels and expectations, offering viewers an invitation to pause and discover authentic humanity.
