About this artwork
What happens to the emotions that we do not express?
We hide them, bury them, ignore them... but THEY remain there, inside. And over time, they begin to affect us. Perhaps in a state of stress that does not let us breathe. Perhaps in sleepless nights when thoughts do not stop. Or even in physical pain that we cannot explain.
Thus arise emotions that demonstrate a loss of control over our own feelings and sensations.
A panic attack is a sudden,… sharp episode of intense fear, anxiety, and helplessness. It is accompanied by physical and vivid psychological experiences.
This work is part of the series “In the Company of Sigmund Freud,” in which the artist explores deep psychological states through symbolism and color.
The painting is in a private collection.

Credentials
- Works on commission
Alisa Chernova is a painter and conceptual artist with a background in medical sciences and psychology, blending rigorous academic and art training to cultivate her unique voice. She masterfully employs acrylic on canvas, multilayered pours, dramatic light-shadow play, and rich textures, favoring gold, silver, and luminous foils to craft her signature emotional-psychological portraiture on the edge of reality and symbolism. Through bold contrasts and intricate symbolism, her works invite the viewer into a visual psychoanalysis, revealing the profound complexity of inner conflicts, vulnerability, and the universal search for self-recognition.
