About this artwork
For several days before I began this painting, I carried a persistent vision in my mind: luminous yellow-green and light green tones emerging from a dark surface. I couldn’t explain why these colors occupied my thoughts, but I felt compelled to follow them. When I started painting, I wasn’t trying to represent anything specific. I was simply exploring those colors and allowing the work to develop intuitively.
As the painting evolved, I became fascinated… by the contrast between darkness and light. The vertical traces of color began to create their own rhythm, suggesting movement, energy, and depth. At different moments, the work reminded me of a forest illuminated at dusk; at others, it felt like distant city lights seen through rain or darkness.
The title came only after the painting was finished. Several viewers commented that it reminded them of The Matrix, and I understood why. For me, Matrix remains a work born from intuition—a conversation between memory, color, and imagination.
