About this artwork
This diptych is part of an ongoing research project exploring the behavior of watercolor as a living material.
Created with watercolor pigments containing natural jade, the work captures how color moves, settles, resists, and dissolves on cotton paper. The mineral presence subtly alters the flow, introducing granular textures and unexpected density, allowing the paint to reveal its own logic rather than follow a predetermined form.
Each sheet functions… as an independent field of movement, yet together they form a single continuous gesture. The diptych reflects balance and tension between control and surrender, material and intention, surface and depth.
