About this artwork
Nietzschean Goddess shows a figure in a flowing pink dress, inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche’s words: “I would believe only in a god who could dance.”
This is a unique painting, created with acrylics on canvas and enriched by experimental materials - ashes from a cherry tree, a subtle newspaper collage in the background (less than 20%), and delicate stencil elements (less than 10%). An engraved phrase, Follow your dreams, is hidden within the surface,… reminding us of the temporality of time and beauty, and encouraging us to cherish life.
The artwork was published in an art catalogue and exhibited in three group shows in Kyiv (2022–2023), where it received many compliments and became one of the most beloved pieces by viewers. A truly impressive work that blends strength, fragility, and philosophy in one canvas.
Alisa Vovk is a Kyiv-based Ukrainian artist who primarily works with watercolor, expanding into oils, acrylics, mixed media, video, and storytelling. She blends botanical realism with impressionistic softness, using delicate layering, granulation, and fluid washes to explore the transparency and depth of the natural world. Her art reveals gentle tensions between clarity and atmosphere, encouraging viewers to notice beauty in the present moment. Her works evoke calm, nostalgia, and a poetic sense of longing—inviting reflection on fragile memories, emotional depth, and the quiet wonder found in simple things.
