About this artwork
A watercolor portrait of the Phalaenopsis Paprika orchid - a bold hybrid with fiery orange-red petals and a soft pink lip. Painted on 100% cotton cold-pressed paper in a 30 cm round format, the work captures the orchid’s warm, spicy tones and star-like symmetry.
This piece belongs to my Orchomania collection, now counting ten artworks - and it is not the end. I am an orchid lover, and this series has a special place in my heart. Each painting is… both a botanical study and a meditation on presence, memory, and the quiet beauty blooming on my windowsills.
I have created more than 150 artworks and taken part in international exhibitions, but this collection remains especially personal. Paprika stands as a tribute to unapologetic color — a small fire, still and vibrant.
Alisa Vovk is a Kyiv-based Ukrainian artist who primarily works with watercolor, expanding into oils, acrylics, mixed media, video, and storytelling. She blends botanical realism with impressionistic softness, using delicate layering, granulation, and fluid washes to explore the transparency and depth of the natural world. Her art reveals gentle tensions between clarity and atmosphere, encouraging viewers to notice beauty in the present moment. Her works evoke calm, nostalgia, and a poetic sense of longing—inviting reflection on fragile memories, emotional depth, and the quiet wonder found in simple things.
