About this artwork
The artist has captured images through the basement windows of Savile Row tailors at work - with the finery and tools of the trade on display for those who are passing by. Chambers has a particular interest in their work and this area - her ancestors were master tailors who worked in this area of London, having migrated from Amsterdam originally. Please note that this artwork is already sold but the artist would welcome a commission on this subject.

« My artwork stems from an emotional response to a place: London (where I was born) always fascinates, and cities generally. A link to the feeling of being an observer, and maybe something of an outsider. »
As an oil painter, Alison Chambers’ work is figurative but not literal, as she aims to capture the essence of what interests her rather than describing it literally. The English artist is drawn towards structure and form, which includes the human body. Chambers’ most recent works feature London cityscapes, a subject which continues to fascinate her.
