This photo is from the 'Anima Vida' series, where I capture animals that have crossed my path. This shy white horse approached me while I was driving slowly through northern Spain. It stood by my side, almost as if requesting its portrait be taken.
Alva Martín, Tenerife 1970
With a degree in Physics and an international career in tech, Alva Martín’s photographic work blends digital immediacy with silent contemplation. Using a mobile phone as his main tool, he explores how technology can serve both as a means of exposure and a vehicle for introspection and wonder.
His projects Sentinel and Flora Vida reflect this duality, juxtaposing algorithmic order and surveillance with quiet encounters with the natural world. His work echoes Nan Goldin, Wolfgang Tillmans, Toni Catany, and Rinko Kawauchi, blending urgency and introspection.
He trained at EFTI (2022) and PHotoESPAÑA (2024). His work has been recognized as a Finalist for Premio de Fotografía Fundación Enaire 2025, Nominee for Enaire 2024 and IPA 2024, and published in Dodho Magazine Issue #30, and several Dodho books. He has exhibited at Todas las Imágenes Desaparecerán (OFF PHotoEspaña 2025) curated by Semíramis González, Tránsitos (2024), and FFoco (2024).
