About this artwork
The garden is loaded with mystical connotations. A space of transition, transformation and spirituality: the garden childhood, the garden-cemetery, the garden-heaven, the garden asa final destination. The cemetery for me fulfills longing and loss in radiant colors, fills holes and voids. It brings back vitality, to see life where it just.The garden is a concept about color, space and peace, that peace of mind that you meet only in nature.
The garden… thus becomes a delimited space, a hortus conclusus, a completely private garden with well-defined boundaries, a true confessional. The cemetery garden becomes a space where one allows pain to emerge, a healing, contemplative, transformative,place that leaves behind an eternal memento mori. Everything that existed and has passed metamorphoses into flowers, mercilessly secretive and ravishingly luxuriant, while the graves of those who have passed away are flooded with memories that resemble reality and remind us of the cyclicity of life.

Ana Asavei Pietraru is a passionate Romanian artist whose works have featured in exhibitions and publications nationally. Largely inspired by the imagery that surrounds her in everyday life, she takes mental snapshots of various observations and transfers them onto her canvases. For Ana, even something as apparently mundane as an interesting chair sparks creative inspiration, and she undertakes a gestural approach to bring such subjects to life with vibrancy and texture.
