In my creation, I've fused oil, lacquer, chalk, and ink to craft an abstract expressionist vision that breathes life and complexity. Ana Kalacanovic came to the United States to break free from the civil war in former Yugoslavia, and chose to pursue art classes. Although she had no experience with art, she performed well in her fine arts classes and decided to pursue it as a career. Her work is inspired by the concept of a Creature, that she describes as harmful and curious. Her energetic, large-scale pieces are borne of an attempt to capture the essence of this Creature on canvas.
