About this artwork
In my latest work, I wanted to capture not just the image, but the soul of a young woman in traditional folk costume. I placed her within the frame of a simple wooden doorway, symbolizing a passage between worlds – the old and the contemporary. Her colorful attire, with a blue top covered in vibrant embroidery and a pink skirt, reflects the richness of our cultural heritage. I paid special attention to details – the delicate patterns on the white… bonnet, the long braid, and the subtle ornaments on the clothing. I aimed to capture that moment of genuine joy – her smile and warm gaze speak more than a thousand words. I deliberately chose a dark background to bring out the vivid colors of the costume, which itself is like a story passed down through generations. While painting this piece in acrylic, I felt a deep connection to our tradition and history, which I wish to share with viewers.
Ana Smarz, an accomplished painter, embraces a range of techniques honed through extensive artistic education. Her style is fluid, choosing mediums that best express the thematic heart of each piece, with a predilection for movement and nature. Her works pulsate with raw emotions, inviting viewers to experience the visceral challenges she brilliantly overcomes on canvas.
My works are in private collections in Austria, Poland, USA, France, Germany and Sweden. All my works are signed by Ana
