About this artwork
From the very first moment, "Imani" was for me the face of the resilient strength of women, too often forced to endure the oppression and prejudice of society and men. Imani stands before us, stronger than we think, her gaze fixed on a world that is wrong.
Imani is the material portrait with an alchemical technique (rust) that allows the work to slowly change with the passing of time in an ever-living flow of maturation, aging and change.
In a… preliminary phase, the material surfaces are treated with iron and copper oxide paste and subsequently the oxidation process and rust formation are induced using a chemical reagent.
Once the rust and oxidation process has started, it is then partially stabilized by a stabilizing paint, although the surface may continue to partially change.

Alongside my passion for alchemical art, I also have a preference for mixed and experimental techniques: this is the context in which my second collection, “Ultra Sailing,” is created using a mixed technique of acrylic and textured plastic filaments applied with a 3D pen.
