Andrea Arena

Andrea Arena, a former graphic designer in Milan, uses mixed media, oil painting, and especially his iconic "ARTE DI RUGGINE" (RUST ART), featuring textured reliefs and surfaces that are intentionally oxidized and change over time. He experiments with layering materials—iron, copper, and chemical processes—that make each work feel alive and constantly evolving.
His innovative, textured style, based on the creation of rusty and oxidized surfaces (through oxidation processes), highlights the imperfection and beauty of human faces and gestures, conveying profound emotions and an intense reflection on the transformation and richness of the human experience.
Alongside my passion for alchemical art, I also have a preference for mixed and experimental techniques: this is the context in which my second collection, “Ultra Sailing,” is created using a mixed technique of acrylic and textured plastic filaments applied with a 3D pen.
