About this artwork
At dawn, I see nothing but impalpable fog.
I perceive indefinite shapes and forms that I could not name and I lose myself, at the mercy of microscopic droplets that envelop me without heating me up.
My slow pace takes me to a space that I do not understand but I feel it is mine.
I reach out and recognize my canvases, my brushes.
My vision is still blurred but the memory is alive and it gives me back the images I was looking for.
I dip the brush,… lash the canvas to stop the moment and the creation of the memory takes me back to a primitive instant where bodies did not possess consciousness or identity but only flesh and movement.

Andrea Solaja is a painter and sculptor based in Italy whose works have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally.
