About this artwork
In this work, Andreas Dullnig deals with the representation of a Japanese sumo wrestler. He is also interested in the dissolution of a massive body into lightness. With his special technique, Dullnig succeeds in making this "Sumotòri" fly. Nevertheless, the viewer is confronted with an enormously powerful and determined pose. the ambiguous position of the arms gives the work even more dynamism.

« I am briefly satisfied when I manage to detach the image from my original intention and surprise myself. »
Andreas Dullnig is an Austrian artist whose works have been featured in numerous solo exhibitions nationally. His compositions center around the portrayal of people, either through portraits or groups of people who are engaged in a certain action. In order to detach the image from its realistic idea, Dullnig begins a piece in such a fashion. One the picture is indeed realistic, the process of abstraction begins through the interaction of technology and chance.
