About this artwork
From all sides of the square canvas we see dark red brush strokes striving towards the light white-yellow centre. The red becomes continuously lighter towards the centre before disappearing into the light in the centre, creating an effect of depth. The structure of the pasty oil paint reinforces the spatial effect and seems to set the colour movements in motion (seen from different angles). The dance around the centre centres us and ultimately leads…
through the light centre into another dimension of moving calm.
The square canvas is mounted on an extra deep stretcher frame (4cm) and painted on all sides, which emphasizes the 3D character.
This painting captures the transformative power of light breaking through darkness and creating space for the new. It exudes a warming, energetic aura that fills any room with life and inspiration.

« I think that art can create a latitude in which the constructive and lively imagination is stimulated. »
Andreas Kuhn is a German painter who has exhibited in the United States, England, Scotland, Switzerland and Germany. For him, the process of painting is an ongoing dialogue between spontaneous and calculated design decisions. Through abstract painting, Kuhn leaves behind the past and liberates himself by entering an unknown world. He favors the use of wide bristle brushes when painting with oil, often overlaying several layers of images to form complex color structures that reflect and refract the light so that the painting appears in motion and different from every perspective.
