The term arrogance alone makes it clear what this vice is all about: It suggests that you rise above others, strengthened by your own view of being better, even… more valuable than your fellow human beings. This alone speaks to the Christian, but also to the ethical principle of human equality. However, the parable of the building of the Tower of Babel also makes it clear that not only the individual but also the human being in the collective, so to speak in a kind of communal trait, demonstrates arrogance by wanting to build a tower, as in this case, just to prove that man himself can reach the heavenly level of Almighty God.

Andreas Noßmann is a draftsman based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally and in the Netherlands. Having always been fascinated by topics that touch or disturb, his artistic practice is also marked by his requirement for "a perfect graphic implementation". Noßmann's distinctive and diverse landscapes, portraits, and still-lifes are created with pastels, graphite, pencils, India ink, chalk, and charcoal on paper, canvas, or cardboard.
