This sculpture is part of the "Facets/Intersections" series, where the use of materials and the design process frame the work within a constructivist style. The resulting artworks feature contrasting, shaded profiles that shift across their surfaces throughout the day outdoors, while indoors they soften, creating chiaroscuro effects that gently reveal their forms. "Tremor," the title of the work, refers to its predominantly vertical geometry and… the geomorphology sculpted by seismic activity, which I observe during my hikes in the mountains.
Andrés Aguirre, a sculptor with a background in architecture, uses wood, metal, painting, printmaking, and photography to channel his artistic vision. His technique is characterized by detailed carving and construction, alternating between constructivist styles of organic forms in metal and abstractions inspired by nature and primitive art in wood. His works explore the psychology of the face and the relationship between light and shadow, conveying authenticity and evoking a profound connection with nature and the artistic heritage of the 20th century.
