About this artwork
Andrew Chan recontextualizes objects from childhood and pop culture - in this case dinosaurs and scribbles - to explore how, along with being formative to our identities, they hover between cold consumerism and personal memory. "De-Evolution"is a satirical look at the Anti Evolutionist theory that the world is only 6000 years old. Depicted through the use of a toy dinosaur distorted Disney doodles and a childlike naive style sailing ship.

« A cultural anthropologist studying society through discarded and obsolescent objects, seeking the invisible essence of things and representing them as a mashup of humor and pathos. »
