'R' - The inspiration behind this artwork originated from a vintage package design logo found on the lid of a tin of shaving cream.
The R itself was styled on the original type and the graphic image of the circle was loosely based on the logo which followed the rim around the contours of the lid.
The image is strong and confident, yet mysterious in that It does not reveal its identity through product placement or meaning through a word.

Andrew Godber is an artist based in Australia whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. Having always been fascinated by signage left to fade and decay and on the sides of buildings, his works are influenced by vintage typography and graphic design. In addition, Godber integrates his background as an apprentice signwriter into his painterly compositions. His distinctive works are created using acrylics on wood.
