About this artwork
Aperitif - The inspiration behind this artwork originated from a vintage poster advertising alcohol which I liked for the symmetry of the design, the two tone coloured font and the image of a glass filled with a liquid that displayed fractured tones of red, as if being lit by light.
The finished work showcases the essence of the original work by capturing elements of its original charm over 9 individual tiles.
The work comprises of weathered and… worn 'o' shapes ( which depicts age ) and encases them in and alongside solid shapes and hard lines ( painted freehand in the traditional sign writing method )
The 9 tiles are then brought together by the rhythm of the shapes themselves as well as a secondary layer of torn and fragmented painting application.

« This brush is ready for the graveyard. In its life, it must have painted miles and miles of lines. »
