About this artwork
He started work on this painting sometime in the second half of 2019. It started off as an
idea he jotted down on his sketchbook. He remembers very clearly that he sketched the idea
down at a Japanese Izakaya restaurant, after observing a few oddly stacked Japanese ceramic bowls.
Laid down the shape and indigo base colours. Left it for a few months because he thought
it was going nowhere. Then, one fine morning in 2020. Je decided to have another… go at
it and it surpassed his own expectations. So, here it is.
