About this artwork
A. Vargas was inspired by a Novel of Julian Barnes . The novel describes Sarah Bernards friendship with the Photografer Nadar and their passion for the sport of the Mongolfiere. So Bernards did fly the mongolfiere just once
Vargas blends these historical figures with the mythological figure of Adrianne on Naxos, represented on the second wooden panel, to evocate a melancholic feeling. Vargas wants to give expression to the idea of unconditional… love and subsequent abandonment.
The artist created a diptychon, consisting of two wooden panels that are supposed to be hanged one above the other. In between the panels should be left some 50 centimetres space
« Only when my hands and my spirit work together might I create art. »
Anette Vargas is a German artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Denmark, Austria, Czechia, and Italy. Oscillating between the figurative and the abstract, her works blend historical and mythological figures, dreams, and reality to express the different levels of consciousness of the human mind. Vargas enjoys drawing parallels between different religions, mythologies, and philosophies, transcending time and space, "crystalizing the essential messages" through her art.
