About this artwork
This painting was inspired by a line in William Blake's poem, 'The Garden of Love': “And binding with briars, my joys & desires”. I enjoyed bold brush strokes and more detailed mark making in this piece. I mixed my own hues of red using artist pigments. Fine china paper was dyed and integrated into this piece. Oil bar strokes and pencil lines add movement to the work. The canvas has been painted around the edges in a complementary colour. Hooks and…
