About this artwork
“Inner World” is an oil painting inspired by my own poem "Inner World - Introspection". It explores the soul's hidden landscapes and the search for inner light.
From my poem:
I hid within myself
Somewhere deep inside
Where the world is
Asymmetrical and dark
Just s little longer -
I just need some time
To be found
I need the Light
To guide me
Artistic Approach:
I used a half-veiled face to symbolize secrecy. Technically, I balanced soft edges… with textured, scumbled passages. The earthen palette makes the vivid lips a poignant focal point - suggesting unspoken words and life within the shadows. I invite you to find strength in your own "hidden landscapes".
An Skal (Anita Perkovic Skalic), born in Split, Adriatic Coast, holds a Master of Arts and a Master of Science from the University of Zagreb in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences, which informs the intellectual and narrative depth of her work. Her artistic education was developed through study at the "Paleta" School of Fine Arts, where she completed the 4th degree under the mentorship of prominent painters.
Her path is further validated by her selection for the Premio Brera 2026 in Milan and her inclusion in the "100 Artists of Europe" publication (Cultural Lab, 2026). To date, she has presented her work in two solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions, consistently exploring the dialogue between poetry and visual art.
