About this artwork
In my work, I use abstract forms and develop them further, sometimes intuitively and spontaneously, without completely abstracting. Figurative fragments always remain. Compositions are consciously checked for quality, repeatedly destroyed, and reconstructed. This is how form and color create highly complex works, in the truest sense of the word.

Anja Pletowski uses painting as her primary medium and has an impressive artistic education in Germany (including graphic design studies at the Alsterdamm Art School in Hamburg; studies at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts (HfBK) in the class of Prof. Ralf Kerbach; master student of Prof. Max Uhlig and Prof. Ralf Kerbach at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts (HfBK)) and France (Erasmus scholarship at the École des Beaux Arts, Paris). Her technique is expressive, often with a figurative touch, but representational elements dissolve in favor of color-intensive, gestural compositions. She is inspired by details of old works of art and natural forms, creating works that convey unconditional openness and psychologically motivated challenges full of intensity and emotional depth.
