About this artwork
The work combines elements of realism, through the detailed depiction of the bird, and abstraction, through the background. The bird is a kingfisher with dazzling blue feathers. I created the expressive background using the pouring technique, which creates organic patterns through the use of flowing colors. The currents and textures in the background create a strong contrast to the bright blue of the bird. This composition conveys a sense of freedom…
and movement. Subtle light and shadow effects in the bird emphasize its three-dimensionality. The focus on the bird highlights the connection to nature and is part of my series of fluid art animal depictions.
