About this artwork
This painting shows an abstract impression of the ocean.
The joy that the vast ocean can bring us... the wind...
"La mer" takes us away from the daily life, it makes time stop and the necessities of life become less important. Travelling is a state of mind, it can bring peace of mind.
The painter was inspired by the Atlantic ocean in southwest France.
« My paintings have a strong autobiographical component. I like to portray experiences and feelings with delicate brushstrokes and calm colors. »
Anja Spagl is an artist based in France who has exhibited her works nationally, as well as in Germany. Being a proud vegetarian and animal lover, she often portrays animals and explores the human-animal relation in her compositions. Occasionally, Spagl's pieces also contain subtle critiques towards today's society. She paints using acrylics and oils on canvas. Originally a way of escaping reality, art is now her full-time occupation.
