I painted this piece in a very intuitive way and gave it a raw texture—not by painting the figures over layers of color, but by scraping the bodies into the canvas. I left only a few details; it’s just about the basic moment of affection between the two children, nothing else. The golden color underlines the warmth of this emotion...

Anja Spagl is an artist based in France who has exhibited her works nationally, as well as in Germany. Being a proud vegetarian and animal lover, she often portrays animals and explores the human-animal relation in her compositions. Occasionally, Spagl's pieces also contain subtle critiques towards today's society. She paints using acrylics and oils on canvas. Originally a way of escaping reality, art is now her full-time occupation.
