About this artwork
The artwork "Hajar Mountains" was created after a trip to the Emirates and Oman. The inspiration came from exposed rock strata revealed by weathering. In some places, semiprecious stones were embedded within these strata, displaying a wide range of earthy and sometimes violet hues. Through my own textile and tactile approach, using transparent textile materials, I captured this natural phenomenon and my own perception of it.
I sewed the thicker… materials to the canvas with thick thread and then sealed them with a special glue. This way, the materials will last a lifetime.
