About this artwork
In Repetitivescape 8, Ann returns to her exploration of the intersection of vertical and horizontal lines. The background is awash with the colours of lavender and cornflower, soft shades full of nuance. The acrylic paint clings to the canvas, applied in a way that is reminiscent of peeling paint weathered on wood. The next layer, a thickly textured dusty grey crossing the canvas horizontally and a subtle addition of white highlights at the heart… of the canvas, adds to the effect. Adding texture, contrast and a focal point to this abstract piece is a top layer of rosy brushstrokes streaking vertically from top to bottom just left of centre. Throughout her Repetitivescapes series, Ann has worked with interference colours to add depth and interest. Never-ending energy pulses through Ann’s Repetitivescapes series, a reflection on the state of our often chaotic world today.
« My life is like a mosaic, composed of little fragments of memories, traditions and family histories. Yet despite all this, my heart sings in a quiet whisper. »
Ann Bubis, a painter and sculptor from the United Kingdom, has exhibited in Germany, Czechia, the United States and the U.K. As an intuitive artist, her abstract and realistic pieces are a response to global issues concerning the environment and ‘throw-away society’, as well as ancestral history, to name a few. Bubis works comprise varying styles and media, with her current focus on framed mosaics and sculptures which she calls ‘juxtapositions’.
