Lines intersect at all angles in Ann’s abstract painting Repetitivescape 9. In the foreground, dark stuttering horizontal brushstrokes the colour of gunpowder dash frantically from one edge to the other, more closely concentrated in the top half of the canvas. dance freely and chaotically on a golden yellow background. Throughout her Repetitivescapes series, Ann has worked with interference colours to add depth and interest. She created this series during a period of time when our freedom (and our collective mental health) was tainted by the Covid-19 pandemic, a state of affairs that she has explored thoroughly through her art.

Ann Bubis, a painter and sculptor from the United Kingdom, has exhibited in Germany, Czechia, the United States and the U.K. As an intuitive artist, her abstract and realistic pieces are a response to global issues concerning the environment and ‘throw-away society’, as well as ancestral history, to name a few. Bubis works comprise varying styles and media, with her current focus on framed mosaics and sculptures which she calls ‘juxtapositions’.
