About this artwork
Ann is creating visual music using a variety of layers. In the background, a variety of blues with interference colours give a reflective quality. In the middle ground, she used swirls of blue and red vibrating through. In the top layer, Ann created crisp matt lines blending and undulating over the painting which have their own spontaneity, a mass of contrasts to the background. She wishes to hypnotise the viewers so they feel like they are looking…
at the rhythms and patterns of everything around them. The Japanese term “Kami” means “the energy generating a thing”. “Kami” exists in nature, rivers, places and people. “Kami and people exist within the same world and share its interrelated complexity.”

« My life is like a mosaic, composed of little fragments of memories, traditions and family histories. Yet despite all this, my heart sings in a quiet whisper. »
Ann Bubis, a painter and sculptor from the United Kingdom, has exhibited in Germany, Czechia, the United States and the U.K. As an intuitive artist, her abstract and realistic pieces are a response to global issues concerning the environment and ‘throw-away society’, as well as ancestral history, to name a few. Bubis works comprise varying styles and media, with her current focus on framed mosaics and sculptures which she calls ‘juxtapositions’.
