About this artwork
This artwork is called Capricious and it was inspired by my stay at an Equestrian farm. The connections that I've made during my stay truly moved me. I learnt to see not just the obvious beauty of these majestic animals but also their character and behavior. It was an unforgettable experience which led me to produce a new series of artworks. The imagery of a horse is usually associated with determination, endurance, freedom, majesty, and spirit.…
By painting in a semi-abstract style I hoped to bring an emphasis to these qualities, and to create a poetic and dreamy atmosphere, rather than focusing on the realistic representation of the animal.
The sides of the canvas are painted and it's ready to hang. I always use 1.5" thick gallery wrapped cotton canvas for its durability and its 3D effect. The canvas is stretched over high quality pine wood frames and stapled on the back providing a clean finish on the sides.

Anna Ganina is a Ukrainian born artist residing in the United States whose paintings have been featured in numerous solo exhibitions nationally. Through her art, she uncovers and celebrates the symbolism of daily life. Employing varying mediums, Ganina plays with light, color, and texture, creating multi-layered surfaces in the exploration of her subjects. She utilizes acrylics, cement, marble powder, cheesecloth, and wax in her artistic process.
