About this artwork
This is a painting of Flora - the goddess of the flowering of plants. It was inspired by my everlasting interest
in Roman and Greek mythology and the frescos on the walls of Pompeii.
In this painting, I mix marble powder with my paints to create texture that captures the essence and nature of those ancient statutes. The use of marble powder allows me to further explore my subject matter.
This is an original artwork, painted with acrylic paints and… marble powder. I mix marble powder with my paints to create texture and distressed look. The sides of the canvas are painted and it's ready to hang. I always use 1.5" thick gallery wrapped cotton canvas for its durability and its 3D effect. Since the sides are painted, the painting can be left unframed for the contemporary look.

Anna Ganina is a Ukrainian born artist residing in the United States whose paintings have been featured in numerous solo exhibitions nationally. Employing varying mediums, Ganina plays with light, color, and texture, creating multi-layered surfaces in the exploration of her subjects. She utilizes acrylics, cement, marble powder, cheesecloth, and wax in her artistic process.
