About this artwork
"Paths are made by walking them." Franz Kafka
“Tri” is Sanskrit and stands for the number 3. “Tri” also means: to cross, to swim and not sink, to overcome something, to master it. We all cannot avoid having experiences in our lives. Beautiful, bad, meaningful, pointless. Only at the end of our days will we perhaps realize why we had to have, or were allowed to have, these experiences. Can we accept that everything will happen whether we want it… or not? Anyone who manages to do this has probably managed to create gratitude and humility for the fact that we are here at all and we can be proud of what we achieve every day.
In her Zurich studio, Anna Maier gives free rein to her creativity. Here, she stretches high-quality linen canvas onto round wooden frames. She then applies countless layers in her own distinctive style. Maier's stylistic signature is concise and unmistakable.
The interplay of shapes and colors invites viewers to linger. With each change of perspective, the painting also transforms. Its complexity creates a kind of pull, as if one could dive into the circular frame.
Anna Maier has been painting and exhibiting for over 20 years. Since 2020, she has been a full-time artist and has sold over 100 paintings during this time.
