About this artwork
For me matriarchate doesn't mean the indisputable submission of a man to a woman, it isn’t a female’s regime and isn’t a hysterical rule of a crazy old woman. My matriarchate – it’s unlimited trust of a woman's intuition; it’s admiration of the line and shape of a woman’s body, it’s worshiping the mystery of conceiving and the birth of a new life...

« My paintings do not intend to provide an idealistic view on the environment, but to recognize which individual roles in the surrounding society are important. »
Anna Ravliuc is rising UK painter with international exposure. Ravliuc works exclusively with oil paints which she feels have a unique ability to simulate volumetric texture through brushstrokes and glazing, thus increasing their optical properties. Her artwork strives to reveal how society spreads beyond its own subjective horizons and often reveals a story about the outcomes of global cultural interaction on individuals.
