About this artwork
I painted the picture "Beetroot" for a long time. Originally, it was supposed to be a portrait of a friend, but I didn't like it. I painted it anyway. Instead of the portrait, my beloved beetroots appeared. I enjoy eating and painting this vegetable because it's beautiful and delicious. As I cut and cooked them, I admired their lovely color. Then I painted them. Their decorative quality is simply wonderful. And it reminds us of our connection to… nature and the garden. I love gardens!
The painting is unfortunately damaged. Before the exhibition in Paris, where it was displayed, I glued a description to the back of the painting. Unfortunately, I used far too much glue, which caused a bulge to form on the front.
Anna Rona lives in Germany but was born and raised in Poland. Rooted in the tradition of historical painting, she explores the beauty of flora and fauna using oil, watercolor, and gouache on canvas, paper, and wood. She combines surrealist, abstract, and realistic elements with a penchant for vibrant colors and complex patterns and textures. Her works are expressive and spirited, inviting us into a chaotic, dreamlike world full of splendor and diverse natural wonders.
