Abstraction -Figuration
Two series have been linked in order to cast doubt on the historical border that is posed between figuration and abstraction: at first, the most figurative is what is in the most abstract process and vice versa… this work process as well that the viewer's interpretation then appears more important than any categorization ...
Figuration
This work starts from forms discovered on the back of cut paper and used as a draft… for shopping lists: ink stains cut, glued, highlighted, ... abandoned.
Cutting them into small rectangles made them more or less interesting. The work consisted in sorting them out, reworking them by interpreting them, in etching, and this, as faithfully as possible.
These apparently abstract forms also invite the viewer to a figurative interpretation.

Anne Bidaut is a multidisciplinary artist based in France whose works have been exhibited nationally. The themes she addresses through multiple series are all tied with the concept of the link. Each of Bidaut's compositions corresponds with a lived experience. Her diverse works echo a world where "the human inscribes its imprint", by presence or absence, and where the notion of time is diluted.
