About this artwork
Alternating drawing and wash, for this double character who observes us through his "skin" of paint. Here the subject is not really the portrait but rather the study of different techniques which accentuates the duality of our different personalities. The monotype on paper on the left, mixed with a thin layer of acrylic, spread quickly with a brush and its counterpart on the right, which comes to intermingle and retains only the paint, in a white… and light line, applied transparently in places so as not to unbalance the character below.
The imperfections of the line are left in order to animate it and give it a dimension other than narrative.
The duality of appearance of the characters, although similar, reflects the complexity of our souls.
A multi-disciplinary artist, Anne is curious by nature. She explores various artistic techniques ranging from working with rakes, ink, window scrapers, paint dripping and mounting relief paintings in the form of sculptures, to plaster and cement. She works on canvas or paper, combining Posca with acrylic paint, which she applies in transparent washes, allowing the lines of the felt pen to show through. She has exhibited at the Salon d'Automne at the Grand Palais in Paris, in various contemporary art fairs but also in Spain, in the Netherlands and at the Tsukuba Museum of Art in Tokyo.
