About this artwork
"Trace" is part of a series of paintings "à la tempera", ancestral technique known since ancient Egypt, also used by the Italian paintings of Quattrocento. Anne Poitrenaud makes her own tempera, plunging her gestures into those of the ancients, thus connecting her very contemporary abstract creation to the roots of our cultural traditions.
"Trace" is the result of a gestural approach, borrowing as much from calligraphy as from the energy of action… painting.

« The reality represented in my work is not figurative. It is a reality that is felt, which comes from my senses and traces of dreams before involving a certain rationality. »
Anne Poitrenaud has painted since childhood. She has studied art, but it was only recently that she decided to leave the security of the professional world in order to dedicate herself full-time to her artistic passion.
