About this artwork
Maritime landscape inspired by Emil Nolde. He is a German painter whom I like very much for having proposed expressionist landscapes with great freedom in terms of colors to target emotion as a priority in its strength, intensity and movement.
I recommend reading the novel The German Lesson by Siegrid Lenz.
The construction of the painting is reduced to the simplest to focus on water in its vapor or liquid transformation. The bias is to use frank… and complementary colors and to let the light shine through, for a mystical approach.
The colors are all made from pure pigments, for greater intensity.
Dimension with the frame: approximately 107x80cm, the frame is made from matt black wooden stick and gold mesh

« A painter of places, I look for landscapes that are the origin of the first scene, the ones that can bring us serenity, simplicity, and universality. »
Anne Schirmeyer is an artist based in France whose paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally. She describes her emotionally evocative landscapes and seascapes as being a search for "the origin", as well as appeasement and spirituality. Schirmeyer's distinctive style fuses tonalism with expressionism and "spiritual abstraction". She primarily creates with oils on linen.
