In this vibrant tapestry of oil on linen, I harness the vivid contrasts and emotional intensity typical of expressionism, combined with surrealistic and symbolic elements. I painted this in a very layered manner to achieve maximum depth and colour strength. Many transparent layers, different colours on top of each other. For this linen I used an exuberant palette. I put some animals in very sketchily, others were worked out in detail. Some animals are very prominent, others almost blend into the background of the universe. This work is, like 'Celestial Bodies', a mix of complexity and playfulness.
