About this artwork
Regenerative States
n°02 — Bloom
120 × 150 cm
Acrylic and mixed media on canvas
2026
The image is not fixed — it unfolds, opens, and transforms.
What appears is not a defined shape, but a moment of becoming.
Bloom reflects a state where creation is already in motion.
Form in expansion.
Matter becoming.
Bloom — a moment of emergence.
Form does not exist — it happens.
Annika Dzerve is a Latvian-born, Italy-based contemporary artist working with painting and mixed media.
Her practice explores transformation as a continuous process, where identity exists in a state of flux. Earlier works focused on the dissolution of the female figure, while her current series, Regenerative States, moves into abstraction, investigating painting as a field of continuous generation.
Through layered gestures, fluid materials, and atmospheric surfaces, she creates images shaped by forces of attraction, fragmentation, and emergence, where destruction and creation become inseparable.
Her process often incorporates organic materials such as wine and coffee, emphasizing the role of matter in transformation.
Educated between Latvia and Italy, with a background in textile art, her work is rooted in a tactile and process-oriented approach.
