About this artwork
We are polluting and destroying nature.
We are leaving our children a stinking, wounded Earth.
This work is the first painting in the Honest Children series.
Here I used a spatula technique to create a more striking impression.
Children are like compressed universes to me.
When I look at my children,
I see the whole world in their faces.
The world with all its wonderful aspects, but also its doubts,
the challenges and also the terrible aspects.…
Therefore, it seems natural to me to paint them.
They are my inspiration-
Through them I can express my feelings.
Nothing is closer to me than my love for you.
And that's why I paint my thoughts.
with the faces of my children.
I used photos of my children as a reference.
The problems that children might have with us adults,
were portrayed by me from my perspective as a mother.
